— Ferdinand remarking on Angelica to Rozemyne in Part 4 Volume 3, Chapter 1: The Dedication Ritual and Returning to the Castle
|
Angelica (アンゲリカ Angerika) is a Medknight who serves Rozemyne as a retainer. She is the older sister of Lieseleta.
Appearance
Angelica has dark blue eyes and light blue hair, which she wears in a ponytail before she comes of age. After she comes of age, she wears it tied back in a bun. She carries a manablade named Stenluke as her weapon.
Rozemyne comments that she “hardly seems like a knight at all” because of her lithe, slender build.[2] She is very pretty and has an ethereal, “fairy-like” beauty.[3]
Personality
In contrast to her delicate appearance, Angelica is single-mindedly focused on becoming a stronger knight. She is disinterested in anything unrelated to that goal, including marriage, social propriety, schoolwork, and her family’s expectations. Rather than improve her weaknesses, she would rather focusing on honing her strengths.
Angelica is quiet and maintains a calm attitude. She ignores anything unrelated to her immediate duties and obeys orders without question. Ferdinand is impressed that she “has the loyalty to wield a blade against him without hesitation,” but describes her as “shockingly brainless”.[4]
Due to her poor grades, Angelica is occasionally seen as lazy, However, she is very diligent in her training and in fulfilling her duties as a guard knight. Her stellar growth under Bonifatius’s training led to her becoming his most prized disciple. She is also willing to undertake tasks she doesn’t find interesting if she believes it will make her stronger.[5]
Angelica often uses her cute appearance to her advantage as a way to gain sympathy and avoid tasks she prefers not to do, especially studying and paperwork.
History
Angelica comes from a family with a history of producing excellent attendants. However, she disliked studying so much that she decided to become a knight instead, reasoning that it would involve less mental effort. It proved to be a good fit for her, and she developed an intense drive to become stronger.
She uses her slender build and enhancement magic to cultivate a speed-based combat style, which is complemented well by her manablade.

Skills and Abilities
Magical
- Mana Affinities: Angelica has elemental affinities for Fire and Wind.[6]
- Divine Protections: At the Royal Academy, Angelica only gained the protection of Leidenschaft, but failed to get that of Schutzaria.[6] When she re-did the acquisition ritual at the Ehrenfest Temple, she was not only able to gain the protection of Schutzaria, but also that of the subordinate gods Angriff, Erwachlehren, and Steifebrise.[1]
- Enhancement Magic: As Bonifatius's disciple, she specializes in enhancement magic.
- Mana Capacity: Thanks to Rozemyne’s mana compression method, Angelica has developed her mana capacity to equal that of an archnoble.
- Divine Instrument Manifestation: Angelica is able to morph her schtappe into Leidenschaft's Spear, albeit only for a short time.[7]
Non-Magical
- Athleticism: Even when not using enhancement magic, Angelica is very agile and physically fit.
- Needlework: Angelica is very skilled in embroidery because she wants to be able to sew complex magic circles onto her knight's cape.
Trivia
- According to Ferdinand, Angelica is a perfect fit to stand guarding during tea parties and feasts due to her appearance.
- Because of her critical lack of intelligence, Angelica is the only guard knight to be exempt from helping Ferdinand with his paperwork in the temple.
- Angelica was able to become Rozemyne's knight because Karstedt asked her directly without informing her parents, in which she accepted immediately. If her parents were informed, they would've definitely refused for fear of her unconventional personality ending up dishonoring their entire house one day.
- Angelica is unusual in her willingness to go to the temple once she comes of age, compared to most female knights who return home to prepare for marriage after turning fifteen.[8]
- Angelica would literally take a step back and smile when it comes to matters and discussions that requires more thinking, which she doesn't want to be involved in.
