— Brunhilde to Rozemyne in Part 4 Volume 1 Chapter 7: My Retainers and Entering the Dormitory
|
Brunhilde (ブリュンヒルデ, Buryunhirude) is an archnoble attendant serving as Rozemyne’s retainer.
She is the oldest daughter of Count Groschel and a Leisegang noble. She enjoys fashion and hopes to spread new trends in the Royal Academy.
Appearance
Brunhilde has light brown (sometimes described as “amber”[4]) eyes and straight crimson hair.[5] She is a fashionable girl who “exudes the aura of a proper young lady.” At age 12, Brunhilde is about 157 cm (5’2”) tall, but she looks a little taller when wearing heeled shoes.[6]
Personality
Brunhilde is driven and self-assured. When she first entered Rozemyne's service, there was no nervousness or doubt in her mind, just a certainty that she would succeed at her new job with aplomb.[7]
She is vivacious and loves to talk,[5] and she has an enthusiasm for starting fashionable trends. Rozemyne reflects that while she is generally “elegant and mature,” she becomes more expressive when discussing her interests.[8]
History
Brunhilde is the daughter of the third Giebe Groschel and his first wife,[9] both members of the Leisegang political faction. She was raised to succeed her father and become the next giebe.[10] Because their parents visited often, Brunhilde became childhood friends with Leonore. Their bond later deepened when they were both chosen as Rozemyne’s retainers.[7]
Brunhilde’s parents urged her to accept a position as Rozemyne's attendant and use it to the political advantage of the Leisegang faction. She was assigned to gather information on Rozemyne and bring her closer to their faction.[7] Brunhilde agreed to try, although she didn't think she was suited to the job.
On a personal level, her own main motivation for seeking to be employed by Rozemyne was her desire to be part of starting new trends. With Rozemyne starting several significant trends right after joining noble society, the young archduke candidate made the perfect mistress to pursue a working relationship with.[11]
When Rozemyne assigned the Royal Academy students to gather information, Brunhilde focused on fashion trends in other duchies. Florencia and Elvira praised her for her hard work.[5]
