Charlotte (シャルロッテ Sharurotte) is the daughter of Sylvester and Florencia and an archduke candidate of Ehrenfest.

She is the sister of Wilfried and Melchior and the adoptive sister of Rozemyne.

Appearance

Charlotte has silver-blond hair curled into ringlets and indigo eyes. She is an exceptionally cute girl, to the point that Rozemyne described her as a life-sized doll. She was slightly shorter than Rozemyne during her debut, but had grown taller than her by the time Rozemyne entered the Royal Academy.

Personality

Charlotte is a caring and good-natured person, with a great dedication to her duties as an archduke candidate. Seeing her elder brother falling so much short of the standards expected for her gave her plenty of self-confidence, without going to her head. While not exactly humble, she is not arrogant or over-confident.

She holds deep gratitude and admiration towards Rozemyne, who saved her and brought a lot of positive changes to Ehrenfest. Unlike Wilfried and Rozemyne, she's much more socially adept.

History

Charlotte was born as the second child of Sylvester, the seventh Aub Ehrenfest, and his first wife Florencia. Her older brother Wilfried was one year older than her, while her younger brother Melchior was four years younger.

At some point when Charlotte was young, Wilfried was formally announced to be the next Aub Ehrenfest. While Charlotte retained the position of archduke candidate, she and Melchior were effectively out of the line of succession.

Like all children of the Aub, Charlotte grew up living in a mansion separate and to the north of the main castle complex until her baptism. Unlike her elder brother Wilfried, she has been raised by her mother Florencia, and as a result, she is far better educated than her brother was at her age, due to the pampering he received from their grandmother Veronica and the retainers chosen by her. However, Wilfried often visited his younger siblings to spend time with them.

After Rozemyne had been adopted and had managed to turn Wilfried's education around, he heaped lots of praise upon Rozemyne during his visits to his siblings. Unfortunately, Rozemyne wasn't able to visit her new younger siblings, due to being unable to enter their building due to a lack of permission to pass the barrier protecting it and a lack of free time. Charlotte was eagerly looking forward to finally get to meet this amazing new older sister upon moving to the main building.

Rozemyne

Charlotte greatly admires Rozemyne for her various achievements. She felt deeply indebted to Rozemyne for saving her from Viscount Joisontak's abduction, and she is always looking for opportunities to repay her.

Sylvester

Charlotte thinks that her Father is rather dense, when it comes to the thoughts and feelings of others, and that once he believes in a cause, he tends to just assume others to do so as well.

Detlinde

When seeing Detlinde for the first time, she instinctively and involuntarily tensed up, due to how similar her cousin was to their grandmother Veronica, both in appearance and mannerisms. Despite this, Charlotte tries her best not to let thoughts about Veronica colour her interactions with Detlinde. Although they are cousins, the two girls only met each other at the wedding of Lamprecht and Freuden, with Aurelia and Bettina, where Charlotte and Detlinde only exchanged polite, formal greetings.

Magical

• Mana Affinities: Charlotte has affinity for five elements: Light, Water, Fire, Wind and Earth.

• Highbeast: Charlotte's highbeast is of the drivable variety. Its shumil-like appearance was inspired by the library magic tool Weiss, accordingly it is white of colour with a golden faux feystone on the brow. Charlotte is currently working to be able to change the shape and size of her highbeast beyond that of the one-seat variant, like her sister does with hers to be able to accommodate passengers and luggage, but she finds the process difficult and has so far had very little success.

Non-Magical

• Social: Charlotte is the most socially adept among Sylvester's children. She is good in reading social cues and guiding the flow of conversations.

Trivia

• Just like Rozemyne, Charlotte dislikes embroidery and prefers working.
• Charlotte is the only character with hair that curls into ringlets. Miya Kazuki chose the design because "it's proper and no character sports similar design so far".
• Charlotte is the second character that Rozemyne referred to as an angel, after Tuuli and before Hannelore.
• According to the Miya Kazuki, Rozemyne's methaphor for Charlotte would be a pretty hair ornament for formal occasions. Rozemyne doesn’t have too many chances to wear it, but when she does, she strives to be on her best behavior. That’s their relationship in a nutshell.
