Clarissa (クラリッサ, Kuralisa) is an apprentice scholar of Dunkelfelger that serves as Hannelore's scholar during the book lover's tea party. Sometime after becoming engaged with Hartmut, she abruptly came to Ehrenfest and entered Rozemyne's service as a scholar.
Appearance
Clarissa has scorched brown hair and blue eyes. She is quite tall, being only slightly shorter than Hartmut.[4]
Personality
Befitting her duchy of origin, Clarissa is hot-blooded and would charge towards her goals single-mindedly. Her obsession with and reverence of Rozemyne rivals Hartmut.
Once in Ehrenfest, the other scholars are impressed with her attention to detail and dedication in her work.[5]
History
Like the majority of children from her duchy, Clarissa originally tried to become a knight, but failed the selection exam on account of being too small and weak,[6] and thus chose to become a scholar instead. Since she still favors the sword over the pen, she kept training with the Dunkelfelger knights, despite technically not being one of them.[4]
Clarissa has shown a great deal of interest - bordering on outright obsession - toward Lady Rozemyne of Ehrenfest, ever since the girl led her duchy into a victory in Ditter. That such a small and physically frail girl could not only participate in a ditter match, but turn it around to lead the clearly weaker team to victory greatly inspired Clarissa. Rozemyne personally participating in the match despite being an archduke candidate and a mere first year student and still succinctly taking charge of her duchy's knights is a sign to Clarissa that Rozemyne has the qualities of a general, fit to lead many knights. And how she was able to come up with clever and inspired tactics and tricks on the spot with just the tools she happened to have on her, without any time to prepare, marks her intellect as her greatest weapon.
Following the match, she bemoaned the fact that Rozemyne wasn't a Dunkelfelger noble, since she would have sworn herself to the girl on the spot had this been the case. From Professor Rauffen, she learned that there are ways in which she might still be able to enter Rozemyne's service, despite being from another duchy, but he cautioned her against any rash action and advised her to calm down and carefully weight her options before making a decision.[6]
