Elvira (エルヴィーラ, Eruviira) is Rozemyne's noble mother. She is the first wife of Karstedt and the mother of Eckhart, Lamprecht, and Cornelius.

An elegant and influential archnoble, Elvira took responsibility for introducing Rozemyne to noblewomen’s society. She is the leader of the Florencia political faction, and she also serves as the lead scholar managing the printing industry in Ehrenfest.

Appearance

Elvira has dark green hair gathered up in complex bundles, and she wears elaborate clothing covered in embroidery of all colors. According to Rozemyne, she seems to be in her mid-thirties. She has a dignified aura even when standing still, and her every gesture “exudes grace and refinement”.

Personality

Elvira is fashionable, intelligent, and socially adept. Rozemyne describes her as a role model: someone who “secures that which benefits her, pays back into society, receives praise from all around her, and is unrelenting when it comes to her hobbies”.

When Veronica held power in Ehrenfest, Elvira loyally supported those who faced persecution, including Ferdinand and Florencia. She has so much trust in Ferdinand that she was willing to baptize Rozemyne as her daughter on his request. True to her promise, she treats Rozemyne with as much support and affection as her blood-related children.

History

As the daughter of Veronica’s half-sister, Elvira faced political persecution and harassment throughout her life. She attended the Royal Academy and graduated from the scholar's course, and was subsequently married to Karstedt in hopes that it would offer her protection from Veronica's abuse.

However, she worked methodically to gather allies among the other noblewomen who suffered at Veronica’s hands and prepared a counter-faction. When Sylvester married his first wife, Florencia, she was also targeted by Veronica and eventually joined Elvira’s faction. The name of the faction changed accordingly to the Florencia faction, despite Elvira still being the leader.

Elvira’s husband Karstedt also married a second wife, Trudeliede, and a third wife, Rozemary. However, Rozemary’s mednoble family began making unreasonable demands of the family, and Trudeliede took to bullying Rozemary in turn. The situation spiraled into a fierce familial conflict.

Karstedt failed to view the situation objectively and sided solely with Rozemary, forcing Elvira to side with Trudeliede in an attempt to balance the conflict. Their constant fighting exacerbated Rozemary's already poor health and eventually led to her death. Even years later, Elvira and Karstedt’s relationship remains strained as a consequence.

In spite of her misgivings, Elvira is willing to accept Rozemyne into the family and baptize her as her own child, mainly because she is asked to help as a personal request from Ferdinand.

• Muriella - Formerly the retainer and name-sworn of Rozemyne, she recently got permission to give her name to her idol Elvira. Serves Elvira in Ehrenfest, but is lent to Rozemyne at the Royal Academy.

• Politics: Elvira is talented at political maneuvering and has a wide network of informants and allies. She is also good at gathering sensitive information due to her training as a scholar.
• Writing: In her free time, Elvira enjoys writing romance novels. She has a voracious appetite for new stories and doesn’t hesitate to take inspiration from the personal lives of her family and friends. Her romance stories are very popular among Ehrenfest's noblewomen.

Trivia

• Elvira and her oldest son Eckhart both have a complete set of the forbidden illustrations of Ferdinand sold at the harspiel concert, and both of them frequently bemoan the fact that no more illustrations will be made in the future.
• Elvira used to pay Eckhart pocket money in return for sending her reports on Ferdinand’s activities in the Royal Academy.
