The Ascendance of a Bookworm world has its own fruits and vegetables, some resembling the ones known from Earth in some attributes.

Parue | Winter | Central Ehrenfest | Food | Parue is the fruit of a feytree that grows from the tree only in winter mornings. The tree is almost transparent looking like it is made out of ice. They are gathered by melting the branch the fruit is attached to. Since Parue trees magically smother any fire in their direct vicinity, this has to be done with body-heat. Parue fruits are drained of their sweet juice, which is used as a drink and pressed for their oil to be used for cooking. The dry remnants are then used as animal feed.
Myne discovers that this parue residue can be used as a base for a variety of recipies, like Parue Cakes, a rough equivalent to Earth's pancakes. | |

Taue are tasteless red fruit looking like tomatoes on the outside, that can be found from spring to autumn. They reach their biggest size at the height of summer, at which time they are collected for the Star Festival, where they are used in a similar fashion to water balls.
By chance Myne finds out that Taue are actually the fruits of Trombe. If they are exposed to sufficient amounts of mana, it's shape changes to something akin to a pineapple before exploding and scattering it's seeds in a small raduis. If the seeds land on earth they immediately start to sprout small Trombes. Myne secretly uses this to grow small Trombes under controlled conditions for papermaking and also to drain mana from Dirk to treat his Devouring. | |

Trauperle (トラオペルレ, Toraoperure) is a fruit that grows in Illgner. Too bitter to serve as food, it's sticky juices are used as glue by the locals. It is also used as a component in specialized kinds of plant paper produced by the Rozemyne Workshop. Paper made with Trauperle is unusually silky smooth and drys in less than two bells time. It keeps it's shape very well when bent, making it ideally suited for making playing cards. |
