Gerda (ゲルダ Geruda) lives in Myne's neighborhood and works as a babysitter.
Appearance
She looks like a nice elderly woman.
Personality
She is quite carefree seen how she treats the toddlers when babysitting them.
History
Myne is brought over to Gerda when nobody is at home to look after her. Gerda is not a professional, but watches over the toddlers of her neighbors to help the community in a non-official capacity[1].
Story
Part 1
While Myne thinks about making papyrus, one day comes, where her whole family has to work. As they do not trust Myne to stay home alone Effa takes Myne to Gerda before she goes to work. When they arrived at Gerda's place other toddlers are already present. Gerda sits by her table and watches over the toddlers and Myne, who runs around looking after the toddlers.
Myne is shocked at how little Gerda actually does. She does nothing when a child puts a dirty toy in it's mouth and doesn't even intervene when one of the toddlers starts to hit another, only saying "My, my". Only when one of the children pees itself does she get up to wipe it and the floor.
Due to this Myne hates being at Gerda's and immediately charges straight into Tuuli's arms when she comes to get Myne.
While Myne abhors this treatment of the children, she dares not complain to anyone about it, since she doesn't know enough about this world yet to know whether such behavior is normal here and she's the odd one out with her Earth-made common sense.
Trivia
- Myne describes Gerda's babysitting as child neglect and got a little traumatized.
