Gilessenmeyer is a duchy in the northwestern region of Yurgenschmidt and currently holds the status of a middle duchy.
Duchy Information
Gilessenmeyer's duchy colour is dark brown[1] and its crest features a feycreature that resembles a Cow.[2]
| Current Rank | Name | Status | Color | Key Crest Component |
|---|---|---|---|---|
As Raublut, the orchestrator of the failed Lanzanave invasion, was from Gilessenmeyer, and the foundation of new duchies of Blumenfeld and Korinthsdaum, Gilessenmeyer's rank dropped significantly.[3] In Year 4, it was Fourth.[4] As the Top 8 are known[5], and if all other duchies remain unchanged and simply dropped down, Gilessenmeyer must be at least 10 or lower.
Borders
The territory is bordered by the following other territories:
- The duchy of Jossbrenner to the Northeast
- The duchy of Lehmbruck to the East
- The duchy of Drewanchel to the South
- The duchy of Immerdink to the Southwest
- A country gate to the Northwest
People and Leadership
Gilessenmeyer had one archduke candidate at the Royal Academy, Luzinde.[6] During the Fellowship Gathering in Year 4, we learn Aub Gilessenmeyer has another daughter, Luzinde's younger sister, and an adopted son whom is in his second-year.[4]
Trauerqual's initial First Wife Ralfrieda, the mother to both Sigiswald and Anastasius, was born and raised in Gilessenmeyer.[7]
According to Rozemyne, Gilessenmeyer only had female archduke candidates and its not rare for them to adopt men from their extended families to serve as grooms for their archduke candidates.[4]
Flora and Fauna
Parts of Gilessenmeyer are within the area in which a Lord of Winter appears each year, albeit the area also overlaps with the neighboring duchy of Jossbrenner.[8] Honey can be gathered in the north.[1]
History
Gilessenmeyer is a middle duchy that managed to shoot up in rank due to the civil war. It isn't currently known if they remained neutral like Ehrenfest, or were on the winning side.
Story
Part 5 Volume 7
Following the revelations rediscovered in Ehrenfest and Dunkelfelger's joint research into the connection between Religious Ceremonies, genuine prayers and the number of divine protections one can obtain, many Aubs adopt children from their extended family, who were believed to fall just a bit short of the standards necessary to become a proper archduke candidate. For the same reason Aub Gilessenmeyer adopted an second year boy into their family.[4]
Hannelore's Fifth Year at the Royal Academy
Following the failed Lanzenave invasion, Gilessenmeyer's duchy rank dropped significantly. This was primarily due to the traitor Raublut, who orchestrated the majority of the insurrection, originally coming from their duchy. They were pushed further down, by the establishment of the duchies of Blumenfeld and Korinthsdaum and their insertion near the top of the rankings, as well as Ehrenfest keeping it's 8th position, and thus rising in rank, relative to the other duchies below the 3rd, thanks to their contributions to the victory over the traitors and foreign invaders. It is currently not known exactly how far they dropped, but since the top 8 are known, they can at most be on rank 9, potentially even lower.
In part to counteract this drop in rank and in part to restore their honor, the duchy is eager to have their country gate reopened, as soon as Zent Eglantine accepts such requests. Currently the Sovereignty is concentrating on stabilizing the country after the turmoil, but it is expected that the Zent will start opening the country to the outside again, starting at next year's Archduke Conference.
With the country gate to Lanzenave no longer being open, and all sugar imports from there beign stopped, honey from Gilessenmeyer and Klassenberg is currently in high demand, particularly in Alexandria.[3]
Trivia
- "Meyer" is very common in German-speaking areas as both a part of various last names or a last name in it's own right. There are also multiple spellings, all pronounced the same way, like Maier or Mayer for example.
