Grutrissheit (グルトリスハイト, Gurutorisuhaito) is the colloquial term for the bible of Mestionora granted to Zent candidates, which is the source of Zent's power to rule Yurgenschmidt and their symbol of authority. It contains all the spells, magic circles and knowledge to perform acts like operating country gates, redrawing duchy borders, and creating / modifying duchy Foundation Magic. The term "Grutrissheit" is actually the spell to morph the user's schtappe into the said bible, and it takes multiple forms throughout the history.
Origin
Regret for tying the knots between Ewigeliebe and Geduldh, Erwarmen passed the position of the God of Marriage to Liebeskhilfe, quitted being Ewigeliebe's subordinate god and left the god's world. In order to atone for his regret, Erwarmen arrived at the barren white land where the people ostracized by Ewigeliebe live and filled the land with his mana.
Mestionora, who grew up safely under the protection and guidance of other gods, reached out to Erwarmen with the intention of granting him redemption. Erwarmen instead pleaded for a way to let the people's prayers reach the gods. The gods then agreed to grant the people schtappe, and the High Bishop was then permitted to transcribe Mestionora's bible and became the first Zent of Yurgenschmidt. The Grutrissheit becomes the symbol and source of power for the Zents ever since.
Variants Throughout The History
Book of Mestionora
The Book of Mestionora refers to the collection of information granted to Zent candidates by Erwarmen after they fulfill all conditions. It contains the myths of gods, the knowledge and magic circles necessary to rule the Yurgenschmidt, as well as memories of all deceased nobles who have their mana quantity exceeding a certain amount. The one who wishes to obtain the Book of Mestionora needs to fulfill the following steps in order:
- Compress mana until the mana quantity exceeds a certain amount.
- Obtain all attributes by praying and dedicating mana before the divine protection acquisition ritual. Those with all attributes upon birth can skip this step.
- Acquire the schtappe with all attributes in the Garden of Origin. The path to the garden will be opened during the divine protection acquisition ritual if the previous step is fulfilled.
- Tour all the shrines in the holy ground (the current Royal Academy) and dedicate mana to obtain all slates and make the Zent selection magic circle covering the entire holy ground visible.[1]
- Pray and dedicate mana to the altar in the Farthest Hall until the Zent selection magic circle activates.[2] Alternatively, one can forcefully activate the magic circle by dropping a large amount of mana directly on it and enter the Garden of Origin if step 4 is fulfilled beforehand, but Erwarmen detests such an act.[3]
- Pray and dedicate mana to the book held by Mestionora's statue in the library, until the magic circle and shell of the Book of Mestionora is granted. This step can be done before step 4, but the said person will not be granted access to the Garden of Origin to meet Erwarmen.
- Enter the Garden of Origin via the golden shumil's guidance and pray to the gods. The Book of Mestionora will be granted by Erwarmen, by having the said knowledge infused directly into the person's mind.[3]
When receiving the Book of Mestionora, the Zent candidate need to keep his/her mind blank without thinking. Each person is only entitled one set of the information -- the Zent candidates could come back to receive the part of information they fail to receive during the first try, but it will be impossible to obtain it if the information is lost due to someone else intercepting the infusion process, or someone else with the same mana signature taking it beforehand. Erwarmen identify the individuals coming before him via their mana and their Supreme God's name, thus the identification is fool-proof except for Children of Ewigliebe dyed with someone else's mana.
Underground Archive Functional Grutrissheit
Since obtaining the Book of Mestionora is a arduous process and is prone to loss of information, a Zent creates a copy of Grutrissheit containing crucial information for Zent's work and places it in the deepest archive of the library. All subsequent Zents could then visit the archive and transcribe the missing information to their Grutrissheit. The one who wishes to enter the archive need to have enough mana, affinity to all attributes and have given enough prayers to gods.[4]
As time passes, a Zent realizes that as long as the person has affinities to all attributes, it's possible to obtain a working Grutrissheit by dedicating mana to Mestionora's statue in the Royal Academy Library to get its shell and transcribing the copy in the underground archive. Activating the magic circle and obtaining the Book of Mestionora from Erwarmen becomes unnecessary.[4]
A Zent modifies the deepest underground archive into preventing anyone but her family members and offspring from entering. Schwartz and Weiss are created to guard the archive monitor the actions of Zent candidates, while those who oppose the decision are purged. Her bloodline becomes the royalty that monopolize the position of Zent.[4]
Magic Tool Grutrissheit
A female Zent wishes to make her most doted child her heir, despite his lacking in attribute and competence. She then creates a magic tool Grutrissheit that can be used without having all attributes and passed down via schtappe directly. The child is successfully made the Zent and eventually passes the Grutrissheit to his successor in the same manner, which results in the information about obtaining the Grutrissheit from the underground archive being lost.[4]
The most recent Civil War was sparked when the assassination of the second prince resulted in the magic tool disappearing along with his death. Since the knowledge of obtaining the Book of Mestionora and the functional Grutrissheit were lost, Zent Trauerqual was forced to rule without a working Grutrissheit with great difficulty.
Single Generation Magic Tool Grutrissheit
The magic tool Grutrissheit created by Ferdinand as material for negotiation with the royalty. After the battle of the Royal Academy, it is granted to the newly crowned Zent Eglantine as a stopgap measure before the next generation of Zent obtains the Book of Mestionora. In order to prevent the problems caused by the previous magic tool Grutrissheit, it is not transferrable and disappears with the death of the owner.
Usage
To summon the Book of Mestionora, the user need to chant "Grutrissheit" while imagining the desired shape of the bible, just like one would do when morphing his/her schtappe into other tools. Despite almost all known users shaping it into a book, it can be morphed into other shapes -- Rozemyne made hers into a tablet computer. The desired content will show up according to the user's will, and the texts can be made to glow in the dark.
To operate country gates, the user needs to press the bible against the inner walls, infuse it with his/her mana and chant the relevant spells. The user can scribble on the bible to take notes, but having another person to write on it or copy content into it using mana is akin to sharing mana during sexual intercourse.
