Heidemarie (ハイデマリー, Haidemarii) was an archnoble of Ehrenfest. She was Eckhart's first wife, but she passed away suddenly.
History
Heidemarie was raised as a noble in Ehrenfest and graduated from the Royal Academy.
She was a scholar and like her future husband worked as Ferdinand's retainer. She often assisted him in brewing and according to Justus was as devoted to her master as Eckhart.[1]
She and Eckhart married after his graduation. They were together for only a very short time, since Heidemarie died suddenly, but they shared a close bond.
Story
Still mourning Heidemarie's death, Eckhart has been reluctant to remarry. While he eventually agrees to an engagement with Angelica, his reasoning is primarily that her lack of interest in romance will allow both of them to put off the marriage as long as possible while continuing to serve their respective masters, Ferdinand and Rozemyne.
Part 5 Volume 6
At the time Heidemarie's house was in the process of being taken over by a second wife, forced on her father by Lady Veronica, who promptly began to pawn off many of the house's belongings. To keep the most valuable books that were also family heirlooms save, and their secrets and information out of the Veronica faction's grasp, she gifted the book to her lord, Ferdinand.[2]
Heidemarie soon got pregnant with their first child, but was poisoned and died together with the unborn baby, before she could give birth.[3] Eckhart suspects Lady Veronica to be responsible for his wife's and child's deaths. This put him in a state of mind, where he was fully willing to lay down his life to assassinate Veronica for what she did to his family and the torment she visited upon Ferdinand, but his lord managed to reign him in.

She socialized with Eckhart from a young age and felt comfortable confiding to him of her situation. Justus recommended Eckhart become a retainer, and Heidiemarie soon followed. At the beginning, Ferdinand only thought of her as an "extra" with Eckhart, but when she competed with the others over how useful they could be, Ferdinand starting taking her seriously. She never gave Ferdinand her name.[4]
