Jeremias (イェレミアス, Ieremiasu) is a mednoble of Ehrenfest and the son of Viscount Dahldolf and his previous first wife. He is expected to become the next giebe of the province of Dahldolf.[1]
History
Jeremias was born the son of the mednoble Viscount Dahldolf and his first wife. His father later married Gloria, his second wife, and the couple had a son named Shikza, Jeremias's half-brother. The Viscount already planned to make Jeremias his successor, but Gloria plotted to have him disinherited so that her own son could become the next giebe.[1]
However, her hopes were foiled when it became clear at a young age that Shikza had a very low mana capacity, barely equal to the average laynoble. Because Gloria was on good terms with the High Bishop, she chose to send her son to the temple.
Around the time of the civil war in the Sovereignty, Jeremias’s mother died. Jeremias strongly advised against treating Gloria as the first wife, but his father elevated her anyway.[2]
After the political purge, many of Ehrenfest’s blue priests and shrine maidens were called back to the nobility, including Shikza. Shikza was granted the status of a mednoble and allowed to serve in the Knight's Order, and Gloria began planning once again to make him his father’s heir.
However, he disobeyed direct orders from two higher-ranking nobles and superiors on the trombe extermination and was thus sentenced to death. Aub Ehrenfest signed an agreement with Viscount Dahldolf that pardoned the rest of his family from collective punishment in exchange for their promise never to approach Myne again. This incident presumably cemented Jeremias's position as his father's heir.
Following this incident, Jeremias argued that his father should lock Gloria up, since he considered her far too emotional and thus likely to doom their house in a pursuit of revenge, but once again his father ignored his warnings.[2]
Story
Part 4 Volume 9
Six years later, Aub Ehrenfest turns up in the Dahldolf summer estate out of the blue without any prior warning. He informs the Giebe and his son that Gloria had tried to assassinate Lady Rozemyne and stolen Ehrenfest's High Bishop's bible from the temple. By common and long established practice this should mean that every member of House Dahldolf should be executed, but thanks to Lady Rozemyne's pleading to only punish the guilty ones and not execute innocents solely due to being family of the culprit, the Aub decided to show mercy, under the condition that they prove their innocence, help is retrieving the stolen object, and swear their names to a member of the archducal family.
Jeremias agrees to swear his name, but his father is unable to give his name, since he is already name-sword to Lady Veronica. Despite Viscount Dahldolf being unable to give his name, due to the reasons behind it Aub Ehrenfest still allows him to live, as long as the other conditions are fulfilled, and Jeremias swears his name.[2]
During the search, Jeremias proves himself very cooperative and helpful. After hearing the facts uncovered by Rozemyne and Ferdinand, he is the one to deduce that the cloth bought from the Gilberta Company is likely to be used to disguise the stolen bible as a gift for Ferdinand and Detlinde's wedding and thus sent to Ahrensbach along with all the other gifts with minimal chance of discovery. Thanks to his insight, Rozemyne and Ferdinand are able to intercept the box in question and retrieve the bible without the incident becoming public knowledge.[3]
