Karstedt (カルステッド Karusutetto) is a noble of Ehrenfest and the commander of the Knight's Order. He leads the trombe raid that Myne attends as an apprentice blue priestess.

Personality

A reliable and honorable man, Karstedt takes responsibility for his subordinates' failure to protect Myne. His friend Ferdinand believes him to be a trustworthy man.

Story

Trombe Extermination

Karstedt sends an ordonnanz to Ferdinand alerting him about the trombe raid and asking for his help. When Ferdinand and Myne get dressed and meet the Knight's Order in the Noble's Quarter outside the temple's main gate, Karstedt is the first to kneel in greeting to Ferdinand and says hello to Myne.

Later, Karstedt selects two knights, Damuel and Shikikoza, to guard Myne during battle. However, they fail to protect her and even put her in danger, resulting in a second fast-growing trombe attacking her. Ferdinand sends the alert and Karstedt and the other knights arrive to help cut Myne free. When she collapses, Karstedt catches her and calls Fran to help her.

After the event, Karstedt takes full responsibility for his subordinates' failures. He promises to make amends, and agrees to commission a replacement set of ceremonial robes from the Gilberta Company.

Plans for Adoption

After searching Myne's memory, Ferdinand visits Karstedt's estate to return the magic circlet. Karstedt is shocked to learn that Myne has memories of living and dying in a technologically advanced world. He also remarks in amusement that Ferdinand seems to have taken quite a liking to her.

Karstedt reports that Shikikoza's mother is causing trouble and complaining about her son's treatment to anyone who will listen, including the High Priest. In turn, Ferdinand asks if Karstedt would be willing to adopt Myne as soon as possible for her own protection.
