Lanzenave is a foreign country, previously accessible through Ahrensbach's country gate.[1] Until recently they were ruled by King Chiaffredo.[2]
The last known ruler, prior to the severing of contact with Yurgenschmidt, was King Gervasio of House Loweleier.[3] After his failed invasion of Yurgenschmidt, he is now a prisoner for life and will never return to Lanzenave.
General Information
One of Lanzenave's premiere export goods to Yurgenschmidt were sugar,[1] and spices, albeit the latter were primarily used by Ahrensbach, while the sugar was sold on to other duchies within Yurgenschmidt.
The country gate that allows traders to pass through is situated in the southeastern sea of Yurgenschmidt along the country border wall.[4]
To be able to both fit through the country gate, and carry a large volume of cargo, the ships are quite long and sleek. While they sail through the gate, their outer hull is black, but prior to pulling into harbour, they flip the tiles on the outside, making the ships shine in bright silver.
Due to their past close trade relations, it was common to see representatives of Lanzenave staying in Ahrensbach from spring to autumn each year. The duchy even had a villa set aside for them as a de-facto embassy, which was generally referred to as the Lanzenave Estate.[2]
People and Leadership
The native population of Lanzenave is dark skinned. The nobles of Lanzenave were all originally from Yurgenschmidt, so their appearance reflects that.[4] Due to the mana disparity, and consequently negligible chances of conception for mixed couples, between the immigrated Yurgenschmidt nobles and the locals, there is practically no interbreeding.[2]
Cuisine from Lanzenave tends to be sour and intensely spicy, even compared to Rozemyne's recipes, much less the considerably blander traditional Yurgenschmidt cuisine. As such Ahrensbach opted to avoid serving food seasoned with imported spices, in dishes served at the Interduchy Tournament and Archduke Conference, despite how common they had become in Ahensbach itself.[5]

Political Factions
Remainer Faction
This faction, led by Leonzio, wished to re-assert the dominance of mana-wielders over their country. To do so, they plan to obtain schtappes from Yurgenschmidt.[6]
Migration Faction
This faction wishes to migrate to their neighboring kingdom and joint Yurgenschmidt's nobility. It is led by the current king Gervasio.[6] }}
History
The country of Lanzenave came into being about 400 years ago.
During the rule of Zent Aeussewahl, he had three potential heirs who managed to obtain a Grutrissheit. Zent Aeussewahl chose his son Heileind as his successor. Unable to accept being passed over, his brother Tollkuehnheit took his Grutrissheit and went looking for a new land to settle. Accompanied by his wife and retainers, he sailed through the southern country gate and ended up in Lanzenave, a nation of people who were unable to use magic. The land wasn't particularly fertile, but was sufficient to support the native population.
Tollkuehnheit used his Grutrissheit and created a foundation with which he cast Entwickeln to construct an ivory city. This act impressed the locals who began to worship him as someone from the country of the gods.
Due to locals not having mana, the nobles from Yurgenschmidt were unable to conceive children with them. Additionally, Tollkuehnheit's Grutrissheit was his transformed Schtappe so would not be able to be passed on to another. On top of that, maintaining the ivory city would require having a schtappe which cannot be obtained anywhere other than Yurgenschmidt.
He petitioned his brother, now the Zent of Yurgenschmidt, to give one of his children a schtappe, but due to it being impossible for people not registered as Yurgenschmidt nobles to receive one, the Zent had to decline. Instead the two monarchs hammered out an agreement to send a princess of Lanzenave to Yurgenschmidt, where she would conceive children from the local nobility, who would then be raised as Yurgenschmidt nobles, including going to the Royal Academy and obtaining a schtappe. However Zent Heiland was concerned that, if all the children were allowed to leave the country after their coming-of-age, their neighbor might become too powerful and threaten his own country one day, so he only agreed to send a single child - regardles of gender - each generation to Lanzenave. Due to practical reasons, primarily involving the effects of pregnancy, the first couple of children thus chosen, were all male, until it became tradition to always receive a male heir.[2]

Shortly after Myne's birth, relations between Lanzenave and Yurgenschmidt - with the exception of Ahrensbach - effectively broke down.[2] Any appeal by Lanzenave to reopen the villa and reestablish it's system were rejected by the new Zent Trauerqual.
Story
Part 5 Volume 6
Leonzio, the grandson of King Chiaffredo, was part of the envoy from Lanzenave who came to Ahrensbach in the spring. He appealed to Detlinde for assistance in negotiating with Zent Trauerqual. She later discussed the matter with Lord Ferdinand, who refused to assist with the matter.
Detlinde returned to the Lanzenave Estate, where she informed Leonzio of Ferdinand's indifference. After informing him about her alleged candidacy for the position of Zent, he suggested that he provide assistance in her finding the Grutrissheit in exchange for her hand in marriage. During the conversation, Detlinde did note a "sweet scent" hinting at the possible use of trug to influence her decision, a possibility she herself however remains entirely ignorant of.
Part 5 Volume 10
The times in which mana-wielding nobles were seen as god-like beings are long gone. Due to the rapid advancement of non-magical and anti-magical technologies in Lanzenave, their nobility has lost almost all of their influence and political powers, with even the royal family being well on the way to be seen as nothing more than mana-sources to maintain the capital.
This led to the nobility forming into two factions. One, led by Leonzio works to have more of their numbers obtain schtappes in Yurgenschmidt than just the king. The other, gathering under King Gervasio has given up on their homeland and wishes to migrate to Yurgenschmidt, to join their nobility.[6]
Part 5 Volume 12
After Gervasio's failed attempt to usurp Yurgenschmidt's crown, the country gate was permanently disconnected, thus severing the connection between the two countries for good. The only surviving Lanzenave citizens in Yurgenschmidt were all involved in the attempted coup or the slaughter of the population of Ahrensbach city and are thus treated as criminals. Due to Mestionora herself forbidding any further killings, these criminals are instead divided up between Yurgenschmidt's duchies, where they will spend the rest of their lives as prisoners and mana sources for their jailors.
