Lehange (ダルア, darua) is a type of employment contract utilized by commoners in the city of Ehrenfest. It is comparatively less restrictive than the leherl contract, but offers less long-term job security.
Contract Terms
A lehange is a common worker in a shop and lowest among the full employees in the shop or workshop hierarchy. Most people in any shop or workshop are lehanges.[1] Children, after baptism (age 7) and before coming of age (age 15), are normally signed on as apprentice lehanges. Initially, they only have to work every other day[2] and not on Earthday, which is always free.[3] Only very few professions have to work on Earthdays, but those generally don't follow the regular lehange/leherl system, like soldiers or priests. Upon turning ten, apprentices have to come to work all weekdays, again except for Earthday.
A lehange contract is normally only 3-4 years long, and after this period they can renew their contract[4] or move to another shop or workshop.[1]
Those who plan to open their own workshop in the future are better served to only form lehange contracts until they get their Beruf Certification, since a leherl contract would bind them too closely to their place of work to leave without negative consequences for their careers.[5]
