— Leonore to Rauffen in Part 4 Volume 2, “Life without One’s Lady”
|
Leonore (レオノーレ, Reonoore) is an archnoble apprentice knight who serves as Rozemyne’s retainer.[5]
Appearance
Leonore has violet hair (sometimes described as “magenta”[6]) and indigo eyes. She has an air of intelligence and maturity. Rozemyne describes her as looking more like an apprentice scholar than an apprentice knight.[7]
Personality
A dedicated student and guard knight, Leonore works hard to achieve her goals. She tends to be calm and levelheaded, and she reacts quickly in dangerous situations.
Although Leonore has a quiet demeanor, she is ruthless in training and study. When she supervises the training of her fellow apprentice knights, she works them to the point of exhaustion and has them start again as soon as they recover.[8] She also dedicates her personal time to researching battle tactics in the library.
Leonore enjoys reading more than most knights, although not to the same extent as Rozemyne. She also has a secret admiration for her classmate and fellow guard knight, Cornelius.
Leonore has often been told that she is too straightforward and that her cold observations are not cute.[9]
History
Leonore was chosen as one of Rozemyne’s retainers, primarily to serve as a replacement for Angelica, who was about to graduate. Because Leonore had a reputation for being intelligent, she was nominated as a good candidate to teach the younger female apprentice knight, Judithe.[10]
Leonore accepted the assignment partly out of a sense of duty and partly to spend more time with Cornelius,[8] whom she admired.
Due to their parents meeting often while they were children, Leonore became close with Brunhilde, and the two formed a friendship that only deepened when they were both chosen as Lady Rozemyne's retainers.[11]
