Magic Potions (薬, kusuri) are concoctions brewed with the use of mana to create a magical effect. They typically contain ingredients derived from feyplants and feybeasts. While there are many different types of potions, rejuvenation potions that replenish mana and strength are among the most common.
The basics of potion brewing are taught to all nobles at the Royal Academy during their second year: See Basic Brewing and Crafting Class.[1]
Known Potions
Mana Synchronization Potion
This potion helps to synchronize the mana of the brewer and the recipient. If the two people have very different mana affinities, it will taste bad. The closer the two people are matched, the better it will taste. A potion brewed by someone with the same mana affinities will taste very sweet.
This potion is used to prepare criminals and suspects of particularly significant crimes for the use of the memory searching magic tool. Apart from the synchronization, it also puts the recipient to sleep.[2]
Mana-Hardening Potion
This potion is meant to render mana-wielders incapable of using magic by hardening significant amounts the mana of a person who ingests it.
When it was used against Rozemyne, she also ended up incapable of moving her body, but it is unclear of whether this was an intended effect of the potion itself, or a side-effect due to her having grown up as a Devouring commoner with exceptionally high mana capacity and the peculiar and unique effects this had on her body.
The only way to undo the hardening of mana is to use a Jureve potion.
Jureve Potion
Jureve (ユレーヴェ Yureeve) is a type of magic potion that dissolves hardened mana clumps, which can be used to heal nobles from a near-death state.

Rejuvenation Potions
This is the most common kind of potion among the nobility. They will help the user to recover a certain amount of mana and stamina over a very short period of time upon drinking. The exact amount and time depends on the ingredients used, as well as the skills of the brewer.
The Royal Academy teaches all noble students how to create a lower quality version as part of the second year course and a higher quality version at a later time. The latter is mostly used by archnobles, due to the cost of the ingredients that the amount of recovered mana is larger than the capacity of most med- and any laynobles, leaving them far better off with just using the basic potion and saving the expense and effort of obtaining the better one.
Rejuvenation potions introduced in the story:
- Basic Rejuvenation Potion - A potion that replenishes small amounts of mana and stamina. This is the aforementioned basic potion widely available and easy to make. This recipe is taught at the Royal Academy in year 2.
- Advanced Rejuvenation Potion - A potion that replenishes larger amounts of mana and stamina. This is the aforementioned advanced potion, more rare and expensive and favored by archnobles. This recipe is taught at the Royal Academy in an unspecified year.
- "Ultra Nasty Potion" (激マズ回復薬) - A potion that sacrifices all taste for ultimate efficiency and that instantly recovers enormous amounts of both mana and stamina. It also helps to recover from fevers to a certain degree. Its taste is so vile, that it causes physical pain to drink it, and first time users will have a hard time keeping themselves from throwing up. Invented by Ferdinand.
- Improved Taste Nasty Potion - A version of the "Ultra Nasty Potion" that improves the taste at the expense of efficiency, but still far more effective than the commonly used rejuvenation potions. Rozemyne refers to them as "kindness-infused potion"(優しさ入りのお薬). Despite the taste having been considerably improved compared to the original, it still tastes very vile, to the point where people, who never had the misfortune to drink the original potion, believed that the brewer was trying to antagonize them by offering these potions. Invented by Ferdinand.
- Blenrus Potion - Rejuvenation potion improved with the fruit of the rare and highly restricted blenrus tree. It retains the effectiveness of "ultra nasty potion" without the horrible taste. This potion has a "sweet and somewhat medicinal taste, much like children's cough syrup,[3]" according to Rozemyne, who refers to it as the "perfect potion" (完璧薬). Invented by Ferdinand.[1]
- Potion that replenishes a very large amount of mana, but no stamina. Potion invented by Ferdinand and taught to Rozemyne.
- Potion that replenishes a very large amount of stamina, but no mana. Potion invented by Ferdinand and taught to Rozemyne.
- Royal Rejuvenation Potion - This potion, who's recipe is presumably known only to the royal family and their trusted retainers, is more potent than any of the recipes taught at the Royal Academy, but not as effective as potion Rozemyne gave out at the Dedication Ritual at the academy.[4]
