— Monika to Fran in Part 2 Volume 4, “To Serve as the High Bishop’s Attendant”
|
Monika (モニカ, Monika) is a gray shrine maiden, who serves as one of Rozemyne’s attendants at the Ehrenfest temple. She is a close friend of Nicola.
Appearance
Monika has dark green hair[2] drawn tightly back and dark brown eyes.[3]
Personality
Monika is a quiet but serious girl.[2] She looks up to Wilma so much that she mimics Wilma's hair style (although not in a bun yet as she has not come of age) and mannerisms.[3] When Monika was first appointed as an attendant, she commented to Rozemyne that she would be serving in Wilma's place as Wilma would not leave the orphanage.
Monika takes her duties as an attendant of the Temple Hierarchy#High Bishop very seriously.
History
Monika was an orphan at the temple in Ehrenfest.
Story
When Myne found out that she had to stay in the temple over winter, she had Fran ask her chefs if any were willing to stay as well.[4] Ella was willing to stay, however Hugo and Todd chose not to. Myne asked Rosina to have Wilma recommend two grey apprentice shrine maidens to help Ella. Monika and Nicola were recommended and spent the winter cooking with Ella. They did this partially so that Myne would learn who they were and take them on as attendants.[2] After Myne dismissed Delia from her service, Fran asked Myne to consider taking on a new attendant, so she had someone to direct her compassion towards.[5] Myne chose to take on both Monika and Nicola as they were both capable, but Myne would not feel right only choosing one.
When Rozemyne is in the temple, Monika is found in her chambers or beside Fran learning to be an attendant. When Rozemyne leaves the temple, taking Ella with her as her personal chef, Monika helps out in the kitchen.[6]
Trivia
- As an orphan she didn't know what a "mother," or in general, a "family" is. She was impressed my this "mother" Ella talked about and agreed with Nicola that the "mother" is quite kind.
