The Myne Workshop was created so that Myne could continue to invent her prototype inventions, produce them and then sell them via the Gilberta Company.
Location and Description
Initially a shed, about ten square meters big,[1] was given to Myne and Lutz so that they would have a place to make paper and store any materials that was not their homes.[2] This shed was quite small, "about as big as an especially large closet,"[3] next to a well and near the south gate, so that they were in the vicinity of a river. It had a few shelves in it as it had been used as a storage shed purely until Myne took it over.
History
Myne Workshop
When Myne decided not to become a merchant's apprentice due to her poor health, Benno instead made the shed into the Myne Workshop as a branch of the Gilberta Company with Myne as the forewoman[4] after she was baptised. When Myne's parents were summoned by the High Bishop, she was quickly registered as a forewoman so she could use the workshop as a bargaining chip with the priests and secure connections with her even if she would be taken away.[5]
Initially the workshop only consisted of Myne and Lutz, although Lutz was also a lehange of the Gilberta Company. However, when Myne became the orphanage director she created a branch of the workshop in the orphanage and had the orphans work for her to make paper, books, and games.[6] All these products were sold through the Gilberta Company.
When Myne "died," the forewoman became Rozemyne, and the workshop was renamed to "Rozemyne Workshop".[7]
Rozemyne Workshop
Under Rozemyne, and backed by Sylvester as Aub Ehrenfest, the printing industry began to expand spearheaded through the Rozemyne Workshop.[8] The first expansion step was the monastery created near Hasse. Its creation was funded with government money.[9] The monastery was filled with six grey priests from the Ehrenfest temple and four orphans from Hasse who chose to become grey priests and moved in as well.[10]
Crest
The Myne Workshop crest was created using a book, a writing tool (the feather), and an inkwell that Myne drew on her slate board. Fran insisted on adding more ornaments because Myne's idea was too plain. So on Benno's suggestion, Myne added plants, symbolising the paper-making industry for decoration, following his instructions. At the end, Benno took the finished draft of Myne's crest with him to make a polished version of it. Myne's crest is used for her ceremonial clothing, embroidered on the very front of her robe.
