Pauline (パウリーネ, Pauriine) is a Professor at the Royal Academy teaching music[1] and Frenbeltag's dormitory supervisor.[2] Rozemyne is one of her pupils.[1]
Story
Part 4 Volume 2
While Rozemyne was in a coma, at Aub Ehrenfest's command, none of Rozemyne's songs were played outside Ehrenfest. After her awakening, however, several students - including Rozemyne herself - performed some of the songs she composed at the Royal Academy, which catches the attention of the music professors. To learn more about her, they invite Rozemyne to a tea party.[1]
Concurrent with Part 4 Volume 2 or 3
At one point during her classes, Pauline performs a song she learned from Rozemyne and Rosina during the tea party. Due to being absent on account of already having finished her music class early, Rozemyne only learns of this the following year.[3]
Part 4 Volume 6
The next year, Pauline is once again the music professor assigned to teach Rozemyne's age-group. On the first day of the lessons, Rozemyne once again passes her exam right away. She explains that the song handed out by the professor was one she was already familiar with. While Pauline praises Rozemyne for her growth since last year, she is somewhat disappointed that her pupil picked a common song as her free choice for the exam, rather than a new composition.
When Rozemyne replies that she has no new composition she is willing to debut in class, Pauline picks up on the sub-text and once again invites her to a tea party and urges her to bring along her personal musician, eager to hear some new songs.[3]
Part 5 Volume 7
In Rozemyne's fourth year at the Royal Academy, the girl is once again able to pass her music class right away, in the first class. Despite the flawless performance of the two songs however, Pauline insists that Rozemyne repeat one of the songs and give a blessing while playing. She states that blessings appear, when someone plays in earnest. It is unclear whether she misunderstood that it requires earnest prayer, rather than earnest music playing to give a blessing, or whether she was tasked by the royal family to prop up Rozemyne for some, to her, unknown reason.[4]
