Roderick was among those who tricked Lord Wilfried, so he is by no means fit to serve you, milady. | ”

Roderick (ローデリヒ, Rooderihi) is a mednoble apprentice scholar of Ehrenfest. His parents belong to the former Veronica faction.[4]
After meeting Rozemyne in the winter playroom, Roderick begins to write and gather stories for her.[5]
Personality
Roderick has an earnest, slightly naïve personality. Although he tricked Wilfried into entering the Ivory Tower, he did it out of obedience to his parents, who told him it would help Ehrenfest. He was not aware of the full significance of his actions. He is surprised and dismayed, when he hears about the former Veronica faction's involvement in Rozemyne’s poisoning.[6]
History
Roderick first encounters Rozemyne in the winter playroom with the other noble children. He is a friend of Wilfried’s and participates in karuta with the other boys.
Later, he helps to trick Wilfried into entering the Ivory Tower, which is considered a crime against the duchy. That betrayal, combined with Charlotte’s kidnapping and Rozemyne’s poisoning, causes Wilfried to ostracize all the former Veronica faction children and treat them coldly while Rozemyne recovers in her jureve.
Roderick spends the next two years gathering new stories with Philine, as Rozemyne requested.
After the Ivory Tower incident, his father started to mistreat his son due to their involvement their family lost their ability to stay neutral and is now firmly locked in place with the former Veronica faction. Despite Roderick having done exactly what his father instructed, his father still regularly mistreated Roderick for this outcome.[7]
As a member of one of the lowest status families in the former Veronica faction, Roderick required protection from someone of higher station to not become the target of abuse and ridicule. Thankfully, Matthias and Laurenz took up this mantle, and the three share a bond to this day.[8]

Skills and Abilities
Magical
- Mana Affinities: Roderick was born with affinities for wind and earth. After swearing his name to Rozemyne, he became omni-elemental.
- Brewing: Thanks to intense training by Clarissa, Roderick's brewing skills improved considerably from what he learned at the Royal Academy, further aided by his recent mana growth from mana compression and the additional affinities he gained from being Rozemyne's name-sworn and divine protections.[10]
Non-Magical
- Authorship: Roderick is a talented story writer, able to make up stories on the spot when he was 7. He created a new literature genre by writing the Ditter stories, using nothing but old treasure-stealing Ditter notes as references.
- Paperwork: Like all of Rozemyne's retainers, Roderick is well trained and practiced in doing paperwork.
