Rozemary (ローゼマリー, Roozemarii) is the deceased third wife of Karstedt.
History
Rozemary was born to a mednoble family. However, due to her unusually large mana capacity she was able to marry into the archnoble family of the Knight's Order Commander Karstedt as his third wife.[2]
Having their daughter married to the Knight's Order Commander himself made the rest of Rozemary's family arrogant. They made demands far above their station, leading to a serious feud between them and Karstedt's second wife Trudeliede, who in turn went on to bully Rozemary severely, which only made her already poor health deteriorate further.
Due to his deep love for Rozemary, Karstedt took her side in this family struggle, forcing his first wife Elvira to take Trudeliede's side to keep the balance.
Eventually, Rozemary died from her health issues roughly one year after Myne was born into this world.[3]
Sylvester later uses these facts to construct Rozemyne's cover story, spinning a tale of Rozemary dying in or shortly after childbirth and Karstedt sending Rozemyne to the temple to keep her save from Trudeliede and her family.
Due to the practices of the nobility, Elvira accepted Rozemyne as her own child at her baptism, rendering Rozemyne's biological mother irrelevant. As Elvira makes clear during Viscount Joisontak's interrogation, accepting the girl as her own daughter during the baptism overrides any and all previous conditions, rendering any existing biological relation to Rozemary's family null and void for all intents and purposes.[1]
Trivia
- Viscount Joisontak, Rozemary's older brother, tried to abduct Rozemyne at the end of Part 3.
- Miya Kazuki in Fanbook 3 describes her as a mischievous imp who changed her attitude depending on the person she was talking to. She was skilled at acting sweet and was exactly the kind of woman, men like but women hate.
