Sieglinde is the first wife of Werdekraf, the current Aub Dunkelfelger, and mother to Lestilaut and Hannelore.
Personality
Sieglinde is very sharp. She noticed that the letters in Ehrenfest books were too uniform and consistent to be handwritten and that the ink was also of a different make than what is usually used in Yurgenschmidt, from looking at only a single book that her daughter borrowed from Lady Rozemyne, and thus deduced that Ehrenfest must have invented some kind of technology that allows the creation of multiple copies of a book at the same time, before Ehrenfest even started to sell mass-produced books to other duchies, much less revealed the existence of their budding printing industry.[3]
History
Sieglinde was born and raised in Dunkelfelger. She was expected to one day marry into another duchy, but due to the exceptional circumstances of the time, this ended up not happening. After the death of the previous Zent and the assassination of his chosen successor Prince Waldifried at the hands of his older brother, the Aub Dunkelfelger at the time banned all interduchy marriage to avoid the potential problems such marriages could cause with the factional divide following the event. He only intended to keep the rule in place until a new zent was crowned, but due to the uncertainty of having a king without a Grutrissheit, he kept it in place even after Trauerqual had been won the throne. By the time the rule was finally abolished again, his son and Sieglinde had already married, leading to the unusual situation of the current Aub's wife not coming from another duchy as is common among greater duchies.[4]
Story
Part 5 Volume 8
Shortly after the end of Hannelore's fourth year at the Royal Academy, Dunkelfelger is informed by Ehrenfest, that Ahrensbach has commited treason and is trying to kill Ferdinand. As such they seek an alliance with Dunkelfelger, which Werdekraf eagerly agrees to, in no small part because Rozemyne painted her planned assault as "true ditter." Despite their eagerness to join the fray, Sieglinde is able to reign her husband and son's passions in. She and the Aub will remain at the ready, to respond at a moment's notice, should the Zent call for their aid in this crisis, while Lestilaut's duty as the Aub's successor will be to guard the duchy's foundation. Of the archduke's family, only Hannelore is permitted to join the assault, so she can cleanse the shame of having thrown her previous ditter match.
When Rozemyne arrives via teleportation into their country gate, Sieglinde is greatly relieved to be shown a pendant emblazoned with the royal family's crest Rozemyne received from Prince Sigiswald, proving that Ehrenfest's claims of having the Zent's permission for this attack are true.[5]
