Family
Adelbert
Adelbert, the Sixth Aub Ehrenfest, is Sylvester's father. Not much is known about how Sylvester viewed his father or how often they interacted, but it is known that once a year, the pair would meet up with Ferdinand at the Royal Academy to talk.[1]
Shortly after his father's death, Sylvester became the Seventh Aub Ehrenfest.
Veronica
Veronica is Sylvester's mother and the first wife to the deceased Sixth Aub Ehrenfest. She is a cruel, calculating, and paranoid individual, who was determined to see Sylvester become the next Aub Ehrenfest. She ruled the largest faction in Ehrenfest until her downfall and raised Sylvester's son, Wilfried, as her ward.
She committed several crimes, mostly at the behest of her younger brother Beezewanst, the High Bishop of Ehrenfest. She was eventually found out and detained, after she forged an archducal permit to the city. She was caught by Ferdinand, and Sylvester finally had the opportunity to formally charge her for her actions (though it was an extremely stressful event for Sylvester). She is currently residing in the Ivory Tower, though as the Archduke's mother, she is still treated extremely well[2]
Despite her criminality, Sylvester still held a degree of familial love for her.
Georgine
Georgine is Sylvester's oldest sister, and current first (originally married as third) wife to Aub Ahrensbach. She is known as a diligent worker, intelligent, and strong-willed, though she holds grudges for long periods of time. She is deeply resentful of Sylvester, who she believes stole her rightful position as the next Aub.
Georgine is an extremely charismatic leader, who holds control over the former Veronica faction from afar.
When Sylvester first came to the castle, he was deeply traumatized by his eldest sister, who bullied him relentlessly.[2]
Constanze
Sylvester's older sister, not much is known about her, except that she married the current Archduke of Frenbeltag, Florencia's older brother.
Ferdinand
Ferdinand is Sylvester's half brother through his father. Despite the harassment done by Veronica, the two gained a close relationship as children. Ferdinand's arrival in the castle helped galvanize Sylvester to improve his grades and show off.
Sylvester cares for his brother and repeatedly requests to be kept up to date on things his mother had done to Ferdinand. "I may be the archduke, but I can't act on a problem I don't know about. It makes me feel pathetic."
Despite this, Sylvester does regularly tease his brother and makes unreasonable demands of his hyper-competent brother.
Florencia
Florencia is Sylvester's first and only wife. She is often exasperated with her husband and distrustful of his views on family matters. Florencia is a year older then Sylvester, so he had to court her with particular skill. When they married and she came to Ehrenfest, she was constantly harassed by Veronica as an outsider.
Her older brother is the Archduke of Frenbeltag, ensuring strong bonds with their neighboring duchy
She is also the mother of his children and head of the Florencia faction.
Wilfried
Wilfried is Sylvester's first-born son and heir presumptive to the seat of Aub. Wilfried is said to be a "mini-Sylvester" by Rozemyne. He was originally designated to be the heir when he was born, but following the Ivory Tower incident, he was stripped of that privilege, and given equal claim to the seat, reintroducing competition to the line.
Sylvester seems to consider Wilfried his favorite, and does his best to be a good father to him.
Charlotte
Charlotte is his only biological daughter. Sylvester thinks she's incredibly cute, though he's confused by her idolization of Rozemyne. He asked her to help her adopted sister with socialization.
Sylvester is ignorant of his daughter's worries and fears, preferring to focus on his eldest son.
Melchior
Not much is known about his opinion of his youngest son.
Rozemyne
Rozemyne is Sylvester's adopted daughter and the daughter of Karstedt, his cousin. Sylvester doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of his adopted daughter, seeing her as strange, reckless, and weird. Despite this, he does appreciate the trends she introduces, the Greater Duchy connections she secures, and the fact she has saved his children twice. She is set to marry his son, though he doesn't seem happy about it.[3]
