Wolf (ヴォルフ, Vorufu) is a commoner craftsman who lived in the city of Ehrenfest. He previously served as the guildmaster of the Ink Guild.
History
When Wolf became guildmaster, he used forceful methods to monopolize business with the nobles[1]. According to Benno, it was rumored that he was willing to undertake criminal activity to strengthen his relationships with nobles[2].
Personality
Lutz commented to Myne that Wolf "had a nasty look in his eyes"[3].
Story
When the Ink Guild noticed the new type of ink Myne used for her children's bibles, Wolf investigated and found out from Bierce about "a kid from the Gilberta Company" who had discussed other types of ink with him[3]. Wolf then set up a meeting to buy the process of making the new ink, as well as to see Myne with his own eyes. Wolf successfully purchased the process, however Benno hid Myne at Corinna's place and had Lutz take the contract upstairs to sign. Having failed to see Myne for himself, Wolf used his men to ambush Lutz when he was by himself in order to find out more about the "Gilberta Company girl". Benno immediately called Myne's father and sister who then escorted Myne to the temple and she began her winter stay. With his investigation stifled, there was little that Wolf could do. When Ferdinand began his investigation into Wolf, Wolf suddenly died under suspicious circumstances[4]. It is assumed that a noble had him killed.
Trivia
- After Wolf died, his workshop quickly closed down. This was due to no one else in the workshop having a beruf certification, and therefore no qualified foreman could be appointed[5].
- The noble that Wolf was associating with was not clearly mentioned in the novel, but it's shown to be Grausam in the anime.
- In the anime his name can be seen on the magic contract with Myne and is spelled / V,o,l,f [6]
